Immersion Experience

The methodology of “total immersion” in language learning is effective at promoting rapid language acquisition and fostering the confidence needed to be .

The language immersion component includes:

  • 3 weeks in Guatemala
  • 75 hours of one-on-one language course with a focus on technical, pedagogical, and didactic vocabulary related to educational systems
  • Home-stay with a local family that includes meals and private accommodations
  • In-country transportation
  • Volunteer coordination providing classes in art, music, computer skills and English to children from families with limited economic resources
  • Opportunities to practice your Spanish and vocabulary in real educational settings
  • Socially engaged lectures, film screenings, and day trips
  • Weekly excursions in and around the community
  • In-country meet-ups with your Casita Institute coordinator
